Comic : Gotham Central

This award winning series valiantly fought its terminally low sales and avoided constant threat of cancellation for a full 40 issues. The series was written in alternation (and sometimes a partnership) between Greg Rucka and Ed Brubaker. Most of the series was illustrated by Michael Lark, but when he left for his exclusive contract with Marvel, Stefano Gaudiano finished out most of the series. Other fill-in artists on the book include Steve Leiber, Jason Alexander and Greg Scott.
While the series was written from a definate "procedural" crime drama angle like "Law and Order" on TV, many of the storylines involved the normal human police officers handling cases involving various representatives of Batman's rogues gallery, including: Mr. Freeze, The Joker, The Mad Hatter, Two-Face, Poison Ivy and Firebug. Batman himself would make an occasional appearance, much to the GCPD's dismay; as the series was largely done from the angle of the police disliking Batman as he makes them look bad.
The series had a revolving door cast that, from one storyline to the next, might shift its focus to any pairing of partnered Gotham MCU Detectives. The most commonly seen lead characters in the series were Renee Montoya and Crispus Allen; with regular appearances by fellow officers Marcus Driver, Joesphine MacDonald and Romy Chandler plus regular appearances by Maggie Sawyer and commissioner Michael Akins.

Comic : 300

300 is Frank Miller's famous retelling story of the battle of Thermopylae. King Leonidas leads a Spartan army of only 300 men into battle against the army of Xerxes I of Persia, a force outnumbering them by thousands to one. The Spartans maintain a stand-still, holding off Xerxes' forces for two full days at a narrow pass known as the Hot Gates before the deformed and treacherous Ephialtes betrays the Spartans to Xerxes. This betrayal leads to the outflanking of the remaining Spartan soldiers, and their inevitable deaths on the third day. The tale ends a year later at the battle of Plataea where a now-united Greek army prepares for the final battle against Xerxes.
This volume would also serve as the inspiration for the 2007 film adaptation (also called 300) directed by Zach Snyder and produced by Frank Miller.
This volume and the resulting movie have been the source of some controversy since their respective releases. Both the comics and the movie have been heavily criticized for their polarizing depiction of the various cultures that make up the Persian army, as well as the various historical inaccuracies. Others have cited how close many of the details of the books were to historical accounts, and that the book was meant for entertainment, not political commentary.

Comic : Dante's Inferno

Dante’s Inferno is being made into a comic book series thanks to DC Comics whom publisher EA has partnered with. This isn’t a new thing for EA, who also partnered with DC Comics to create Dead Space comics.
The comic books are being adapted by two former Marvel Comics writers, X-Men writer Christos Gage and Incredible Hulk illustrator Diego Latorre and will run six issues. The first issue will go on sale in December 2009. Although if you are at Comic Con 2009 this week you can get a sneak preview.
The Dante’s Inferno comic will follow the storyline of the Dante’s Inferno game, which is itself inspired by Dante Alighieri’s epic 14th Century poem, The Divine Comedy. All three tell the story of the descent through the nine circles of Hell–limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, violence, heresy, fraud, and treachery–where sinners’ souls suffer for all eternity. Rather than a passive visitor, the game and comic reimagine Dante as a fierce scythe-wielding warrior who must slay all manner of demonic creatures to rescue his ladylove Beatrice, who is featured more prominently in the comic.
